What is Accessibility Testing: awareness and tools

Accessibility Testing: awareness and tools provides a practical introduction to assessing digital accessibility. You will learn why accessibility is a critical element of product quality and which risks organisations face when it is not considered.

Throughout the course, you work with practical methods and tools to quickly identify common accessibility issues. You will examine websites using automated checks and perform manual tests such as keyboard navigation, contrast and structure reviews, and initial screen reader exploration.

You also learn how to report findings clearly and effectively, including user impact and actionable recommendations. In addition, the course highlights how accessibility fits into agile delivery and how collaboration with UX and development teams leads to sustainable improvements.

  • UX designers and service designers
  • Developers and front-end engineers
  • Testers and QA professionals
  • Product owners and product managers

Objectives

After completing this training, participants will be able to:

  • Identify accessibility issues in digital products, including low colour contrast, missing or incorrect alt text, and situations where keyboard navigation fails.
  • Run automated accessibility checks using tools such as axe and WAVE, and evaluate the issues these tools report.
  • Perform a manual accessibility review by navigating an interface entirely with the keyboard and a screen reader.
  • Interpret the outcomes of both automated and manual tests using the WCAG principles (Perceivable, Operable, Understandable, Robust).
  • Define one concrete next step to embed accessibility in their own work, for example by using a checklist or installing a testing tool.
