TMAP in depth
Even though experts often just speak of TMAP®, the testing method’s official name is TMAP Next. This method was launched in 2006 as the successor to the TMAP approach introduced in 1996. Because of the color of the cover of the first book on this testing approach, the first variant is still sometimes referred to as TMAP Blue.
TMAP® Next provides a holistic approach to test management, dealing not only with the technical aspects of testing, but also with the process and organizational elements.
The method contains guidelines for drawing up testing strategies, setting up testing processes and using advanced testing techniques such as risk-based testing and test automation. In addition to the stated effectiveness of the testing approach which results in higher software quality and better project results, TMAP Next also supports collaboration among the various teams and stakeholders.
