What is SAFe Advanced Scrum Master (ASM)
This certification supports Scrum Masters/Team Coaches in developing high-performing teams that deliver measurable business value. The focus is on building practical, skills-based expertise through hands-on application.
Throughout the learning path, participants engage in a variety of interactive activities to apply their learning in real-world contexts. The Learning Lab provides scenario-based assessments that evaluate cumulative skill development. Upon successful completion of all required components, participants qualify for the Advanced Scrum Master certification.
This course is the official SAFe course and is delivered by certified trainers. The SAFe Advanced Scrum Master (ASM) certification exam is included in the course. The cost of the exam is part of the course price. You will take this online exam at a time and place of your own choice, but within 30 days of the course. In the Scaled Agile online learning environment, you will have access to an e-learning prior to attending the course (this will take you between 2 and 4 hours) and to the digital workbook that accompanies the course. You can also use this environment to take a practice test (mock exam). A one-year membership to SAFe Studio is included in this course. Through SAFe Studio, you have access to all articles of the SAFe-framework, SAFe Copilot, e-learnings, videos, discussion forums, toolkits and templates. We always use the latest course materials from Scaled Agile.
Advanced Scrum Master includes:
- 1 SAFe micro-credential: a facilitated half-day session focused on practical techniques to help leaders effectively navigate conflicts that arise during collaborative decision-making in Agile environments.
- 3 SAFe skills: three one-hour, self-paced modules designed to deepen your expertise in flow metrics, identify and apply flow accelerators, and strengthen your ability to build and support high-performing teams.
- 4-hour Learning Lab: a hands-on, small-group session where you apply your knowledge through realistic, case-based scenarios—consolidating your learning in a practical, real-world context.

Prerequisites
Participants should be certified SAFe Scrum Master with at least 1 year experience in that role.
Objectives
- Advanced facilitation and coaching techniques to confidently navigate conflicts and enable effective, collaborative decision-making
- A deep dive into SAFe’s Eight Flow Accelerators, including how to measure, optimize, and accelerate flow at both team and ART level—while identifying and removing common blockers
- Core practices for fostering self-organization, ownership, and collaboration within high-performing Agile teams
- Practical application of all concepts through case-based scenarios that bridge theory and real-world execution
