When you are a Business or IT Architect who considers or plans to exploit the architecture framework TOGAF in Enterprise Architecture Projects, this is the course to start of with. In a comprehensive way the TOGAF9 Foundation training provides participants with the necessary knowledge and understanding of TOGAF9 to pass the level 1 exam and to understand how it will effect their day-to-day work. This training course is also the starting point for a stepwise approach to achieve the TOGAF9 certified level. The exam is part of the training course and will be held on the last training day.

Objectives
At the end of this training course the participants will have the knowledge and insight to understand how TOGAF will effect their daily work, how it relates to their Enterprise Architecture environment, and to pass the ‘TOGAF9 Foundation’ exam. The exam is part of the training course.

Target audience
This training is aimed at professionals who want to learn about the TOGAF-framework, and want to be able to pass the TOGAF Foundation exam.

The content of this training course is consistent with the Key Learning Points as prescribed by The Open Group. The main structure of this training course is:

  • Introduction in TOGAF9: TOGAF9 Components, TOGAF9 concepts and ADM overview
  • Context and Project establishment: Preliminary phase, Phase Architecture vision, Architecture capability and Architecture governance
  • Architecture Design topics: Building Blocks, Enterprise Continuum and Content Framework
  • Architecture Design phases: Phases Business Architecture, Information Systems Architecture and Technology Architecture
  • Implementation Design: Phases Opportunities and Solutions and Migration Planning
  • Governance structure: Architecture governance structure, phase Implementation Governance and Change Management
  • Requirements Management
  • Integrative subjects: Interoperability, Risk Management and Capability based planning
  • Exam

Didactical approach
This training combines e-learning and classroom learning. E-learning is used for the necessary preparation before the start of the training and will be facilitated by Capgemini Academy’s e-learning platform. Capgemini Academy will provide the following materials for pre-work:
  • The TOGAF9 Personal Edition (PDF)
  • A training workbook
  • A reading guide
  • An online trial exam

The knowledge transfer is mainly done by the reading of parts of the TOGAF9 Personal Edition by the participants. The classroom sessions are used to make the participants familiar with all the relevant content of TOGAF9 and to discuss the application of TOGAF9 in practice. For that, the classroom training uses a variety of active didactical methods. Examples of didactical methods are: quizzes, explain topics to the other participants and card exercises. For the translations to the clients way of working we use methods like thesis discussions and guided discussions.

To prepare the participants for the exam, which will take place in the afternoon of the second training day, they will be practicing exam questions before and during the training.

Entry level
To attend this training course, at least several months of architecture experience is mandatory.
